Mmmmm, Sweet Potatoes

Well, I guess it was about time to feed her some baby food. I had planned on waiting until she turned 6 months and I did just that. I can only hope that she takes to all veggies as well as she did tonight.

Has it really been 6 months already??

It's really hard to believe but Taylor turned 6 months old today. We celebrated by feeding her sweet potatoes - this was her first "real food" and she ate the whole bowl with no problem. She made a funny face the last few bites but I think it was just because it wasn't warm anymore. We're proud to say that she's done well both times we've given her something new to try (the first thing being rice cereal). Looks like Taylor is going to take after her Mommy and be a good eater...unlike her picky Daddy :)
We know we've said it before but it really doesn't seem like it's already been 6 months since she was just a few hours old. We are so thankful to God for such a happy and healthy baby.

Daddy's little girl

I bought this little hoodie for Taylor several months ago and this is the first time that she's been able to wear it. And I think she looks cuter in it than I ever could have imagined!

Thankful

Taylor slept from about 8:45 last night until almost 6:30 this morning without waking up to fuss! Yay! I do miss that time I got to spend with her in the middle of the night, but I must admit that I enjoy sleeping through the night, too. It's hard to believe that she'll be 6 months old in only four days. I mean, really. Sometimes it seems like I just had her. It's been a wonderful 6 months. She's getting to be a lot of fun - she's "talking" lots and has started this cute little squeal thing, and she's smiling a ton! Among her many nicknames is Rolly Poly b/c she rolls all over the place now. It's fun to watch her develop and grow. We are so thankful to God for this precious baby girl that He has loaned to us. We love her soooo much and it is hard to wrap my head around the fact the He loves her so much more than Nick and I ever could. Amazing. Amazing Love indeed!

God is good

Well, I just got home from my first day back to work and I must say that I enjoyed it. I might not feel this way every Monday and Wednesday, but it was a great day today. God is kind. I just had one client and she was new so I was there for more than I normally would be with one client. There was some paper work to do and other things to talk about, then at the end we chatted a bit.

A few recent, random pics

Sleep

We are very happy and thankful to say that Taylor's sleep habits have dramatically improved from the down-turn she was in a couple of weeks ago, and she slept through the night about 3 times last week! Last night she slept from about 10:30 pm until 7:00 am (the longest she's ever slept). There were a couple nights last week where she woke up crying but fell back asleep after we rolled her back onto her tummy. It was my job to roll her from her back to her tummy (she accidently rolls onto her back, and she hates to be on her back in her crib) during the night, and even though I only had to do this a few times I gained a great appreciation for Robyn, since she has gotten up at least once every night for the past 6 months.

She also did a really good job during her daytime naps last week. She was on a really good 4 hour schedule (2 hours awake, 2 hours asleep) and would hardly ever fuss when we'd lay her down and hardly ever woke up early from a nap.

And in other news, Robyn goes back to work tomorrow. She's only going to work 30 minutes on Monday and 30 minutes on Wednesday (this week), but she's not really looking forward to it. She really loves to be home with Taylor but the extra income will help.

Procrastinator?

Do I qualify as a procrastinator if one of my most popular phrases is "I'll do that later"? I've been working on this canvas for Taylor's room off-and-on since right before she was born and I finally finished it last week! I am not proud of my tendencies to put things off but I'm getting better :) I copied the flowers from a pillow that goes with her bedding.

Sweet Ella

This past weekend we took a little trip to Louisiana to see the Crooms' new house. They've done a great job with the renovations! We had a good time and Streed and Ella love Baby Taylor very much. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of the 3 of them as I had planned. I thought we got one of Streed with Taylor, but apparently not. Ella had picked up one of Streed's socks and was trying to put it on Taylor. I guess she thought her feet were cold. Taylor wasn't quite sure what to think. Ella tried to climb in the pack-n-play with Taylor and it seemed she wanted to hold her, too. Judging by how she carries her baby doll around the house by her hair or foot or whatever she can grab, we didn't think this would be a great idea.

Eight is Great!

Last night Taylor slept for 8 hours and didn't make a peep! For us this is quite an accomplishment! I'm starting back to work next week (thankfully just for a couple of hours 2 days a week) so I'm trying very hard to get her on a good schedule so my sitters can have a bit of predictability.
Another accomplishment is that she rolled from her back to her tummy yesterday! I knew she was getting close - basically as of last Friday the only part she had left to do was getting her bottom arm out from under her. I left her with Nicolette (my Monday sitter) yesterday morning for a practice run before next week. As I was about to walk out the door I said, "She's about to roll over, but if she does it while I'm gone, don't tell me." Just as the words left my mouth Taylor mastered the move! I got real excited and said, "Yay! She just did it!" as I threw both hands in the air. I bet I looked funny, but my feelings were genuine :) It's fun to watch her grow and develop, but it really does go by quickly. That's one reason I haven't been in any hurry to get her to sleep through the night.
She is still loving the rice cereal, so we'll continue that for a little longer before we introduce baby food. That should make for some fun pictures!

Hungry, Hungry Hippo

Taylor has been very interested in food lately. She watches me when I eat and drink and follows anything that I put in my mouth. I was sitting on the floor with her the other day eating some chips while she played on her mat. Then I walked into the laundry room literally for about 2 seconds and returned to find this. I laughed out loud then immediately grabbed the camera in hopes of capturing this priceless shot. And I did. You might think we don't feed her. We do. I've given her some cereal a few more times and she does well with it. I think she's going to be a good eater.

My New Ride

Check out my new ride! Just kidding! I got my car serviced today and THIS is what they gave me for a loaner. Nice, huh? I just had to take these pictures - couldn't help myself. Never have I ever driven a Cadillac before, but now I know why people like them. Very nice! It's just a slight bit different than driving my Saturn VUE. Don't get me wrong, I like my car and am thankful for it. But it's no luxury vehicle.

Well, we did it

We gave Taylor some cereal for the first time last night. I'm pleased to say she did quite well. We didn't give her much at all since it was the first attempt. Despite the unpleasant look on her face I think she liked it. Judging by her facial expression in the very last picture I think she's a bit confused. I fed her a little bit more today and the results were about the same. I'll probably continue this for a little while before introducing veggies. We'll see. I was going to try to wait until 6 months, but you see how that went.
