My new favorite picture

This is my (Nick) new favorite picture that we have of Taylor. I love to see her smile and I think she looks adorable in that onesie.

3 Months Old!

Taylor turned 3 months old Sunday. Time flies! She is smiling and cooing alot and is getting better head control. When she's in her bouncy seat she kicks her legs and grabs/bats the giraffes on the toy bar. Sometimes she talks to them and smiles at them, which is really funny. Tummy time is still not her favorite, but she still likes bath time. Taylor continues to change and grow daily and she seems so big to us...though most people comment on how petite she is.

The Pumpkin Patch

Mommy and Daddy took me to a Pumpkin Patch at a church in town yesterday. My Aunt Lisa, Uncle Erik, and cousin Kayleigh, along with Aunt Val and Uncle Matt came along, too. I'm not sure what the big deal was but everyone took lots of pictures of us babies. I'm pretty sure the adults had more fun than Kayleigh and me.

The Cousins

As promised, here are a few pictures of Kayleigh and Taylor. There will be more to come. How cute is the one of them holding hands?! Kayleigh tried to teach Taylor how to behave in a restaurant since it was Taylor's first time, but despite Kayleigh's good example Taylor got a bit fussy toward the end.

Settling in

Recently, I feel like I've been settling into motherhood...and it's nice. I think both of us are starting to get the hang of this parenthood stuff - not that we think we've got it all down pat, we know we'll always be learning, but I think we're feeling a little more comfortable and confident. Over the past couple of weeks Taylor has really been smiling and cooing and it is so much fun! You should watch the video if you haven't already. She's also become much better at taking naps, which makes for a more pleasant baby and Mommy. For the Women's Bible Study at church we're reading a book called "Feminine Appeal" by Carolyn Mahaney and it is SO GOOD! I highly recommend it to you women. It's based on Titus 2:3-5 and is about the seven virtues of a godly wife and mother. I've learned so much and we've only gone through three chapters. The most recent chapter was on delighting in your children and what a wonderful time for me to read it while Taylor is still a young babe. There have been moments when I definately have not delighted in her, but rather have let myself become frustrated with her. The Lord has used this book along with some wonderful women in the church to remind me that this time with Taylor as a baby will flee so quickly and to embrace it and enjoy it. And I truly have begun to do that. Yes, even those middle of the night feedings I have come to enjoy...and it's not just the lack of sleep that's causing me to write this. What a sweet God to teach me these things as a young wife and mother. On another note, some of Nick's family will be visiting this weekend and we are so looking forward to seeing them. So we'll be posting some pictures of the weekend's events. Stay tuned!

May you be sharpened

A few posts ago I mentioned a couple who had just given birth to a baby girl with Trisomy-18. She lived for 8 days. I know some of you have visited their blog and have been touched to say the least. And I know some of you chose not to in fear that it would be too much for your heart to handle. I encourage you to do so if you have not. Not so that you can be sad, but rather so that you can be encouraged, sharpened, and that your faith may be strengthened. More than likely you will cry, sob even. But no doubt you will be sharpened. The way the Lord is carrying them through this valley that is deeper and darker than I can imagine, and that they're letting Him do so is so evident. May you be sharpened! http://conorbootheandgirls.blogspot.com

Two Months Old!?!

Taylor turned 2 months old this past Friday! Wow! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday that we were holding her for the first time. Nick couldn't make it to her Dr. appt. Friday for her check up and shots, so Mama met me there...thank you, Mama. I was not looking forward to the shots and was pretty sure I would cry. I was right and I think I cried for longer than Taylor did. The Dr. said she looks great and is doing well! She is in the 25th% for weight and 50th% for length. Here is a recap of her measurements since birth. It's not letting me do it as a chart, but you get the idea. We'll post some new pictures soon.

WEIGHT LENGTH

BIRTH 6lb 1oz 19.5 in

1 MONTH 8lb 9oz 21.5 in

2 MONTHS 9lb 8oz 22.5 in
