30 Weeks and Random Thoughts

Memorial Day marked 30 weeks for me! Wow! It's hard to believe that I have only 10 weeks until my due date. I'm starting to get very tired and these early mornings are getting tougher and tougher. Thankfully my schedule allows me time to take naps!

Nick and I became an uncle and aunt again today - his sister, Lisa, had a baby girl named Kayleigh Anne. We can't wait to meet her.

Oh yeah, I had my very first baby shower last Sunday. It was fun and I got some nice stuff!

As I've said before in an earlier post I waver back and forth between entertaining the idea of natural childbirth and being set on an epidural. I still like to say that I'll attempt it with no epidural (notice I didn't necessarily say no drugs at all), but today as I slammed my thumb in the door I thought to myself, "I need an epidural for sure." We shall just have to wait and see what happens as I know that labor and delivery almost never goes as we plan.

28 Week Visit, etc.

I had my 28 week visit today which consisted of the gestational diabetes test and the Rhogam shot. Neither were bad and I'm glad to say that I passed! No diabetes here! The shot, which people had said is quite painful, wasn't bad at all! But shots have never really bothered me and I think maybe the nurse was just really good, too. I'm also happy to report that I had gained only 3 pounds since the last visit - much better than the previous two visits. Now I go see the Dr. every 2 weeks!!! My mother-in-law said this will make it go much faster :) Perhaps we should get started on the nursery sometime soon?!

You can't tell me she looks 28 weeks pregnant

Judge for yourself...

I think Robyn has body dysmorphia. She looks at herself and sees someone who is 2 weeks past due.

My First (unofficial) Mother's Day

Today was my very first (unofficial) Mother's Day and it was very nice. I got a sweet card from Nick's parents and the "Cherish" Willow Tree figurine from Nick...very sweet! My mom and stepdad came to our church this morning and afterwards came over for a yummy lunch. Nick cooked some good hamburgers on the grill and we had fries and key lime pie - I never said it was healthy, just yummy! It was a very nice day and I enjoyed it alot! Enjoy the pictures!

Already?

I'm sad to say that I'm already experiencing a bit of swelling in my ankles. Pitted edema to be exact. For those of you who don't know what this is, its when you press hard on your skin and the indentation remains. This is not good for one who is only 27 1/2 weeks pregnant and stands on her feet at work. But at least I have breaks and don't have to stand all day. AND its already getting into the 90's and its only May! Yikes. If I've heard it once, I've heard it a dozen times..."Oooo, you're gonna be hot this summer!" (even from strangers, might I add). It's become a joke among family and friends that I'm going to be hot and swollen this summer.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. We are very thankful for this healthy pregnancy and don't at all take it for granted. I really write this more to be funny than anything.

But seriously, I do think its gonna be a hot one!

26 Week Belly and Other Thoughts

Here is my 26 week belly! It's getting bigger by the day...and unfortunately, due to my appetite, its not the only thing getting bigger :( You can't see it in the sideview, but I'm starting to get that lovely dark line, linea negra I believe is what they call it, down the center of my belly - YUCK! Shelley told me once that she thought I'd have a hard time with my growing body whenever I got pregnant - I'm afraid she may have been right. I guess that's just all part of pregnancy, though. And as I've been told, it will all be worth it when we see her and hold her for the first time. I do wonder what/who she'll look like, what her personality will be, when she'll be born, how much she'll weigh, and what my labor and delivery experience will be like. I watch baby shows on TV quite regularly now, such as Runway Moms, Bringing Home Baby, Birth Day, etc. Someone told me that I shouldn't watch those shows, but I find them to be very educational and they often prompt me to pray for Taylor. It's funny how my thoughts of natural delivery vs. drugs change so quickly and frequently as I watch the women on T.V. Perhaps I'll have a better idea of what my birth plan will look like after we go through Childbirth Education Classes and the closer I get to my due date.
