A milestone and other thoughts

If you look at the countdown at the left side of the screen you'll see that there are less than 100 days until the due date! Not exactly a major milestone, but it's exciting nonetheless.

Taylor has proven to be an active little girl. Robyn of course can feel her all the time. And I can feel her just about every time I put my hand on Robyn's belly. This brings a smile to my face every time and I hope that it never gets old to me.

Robyn has had heartburn pretty regularly lately so we're hoping that Taylor comes out with a full head of hair. (This isn't just an old wive's tale--I heard a scientific study recently that confirmed this).

Great Intentions Get You Nowhere

So, we celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary this past February 5th! And then a few days ago, on April 19th to be exact, we ordered our wedding album. Yep, you read the first line correctly...2 years! This event of ordering the wedding album is quite a milestone for us! We've had great intentions all along and many deadlines have been set...and broken. And many times we have said, "We HAVE to pick out wedding pictures this weekend" or "We can't do such-and-such until we've finalized our picture choices." There were several factors that contributed to our procrastination, such as: I was in graduate school, we're both rather particular people, our photographer gave us no deadline but kept giving us the option of upgrading to a "Coffee Table Book" which we were torn over, we've had our proof manual (which we get to keep) since shortly after the wedding, I (Robyn) am quite indecisive and Nick can be too sometimes, and did I mention that we're both rather particular people? But we finally placed our order and will receive it before our first child is born! Taylor is jumping for joy in my belly as I write this - she is proud of her Mommy and Daddy.

So we hope that story gives you a little laugh. And the moral of the story is...great intentions get you nowhere :)

Little post, big news

I started a new job last Monday! We are so very thankful that God answered our prayer. Although I wish that I would have found a job sooner, he has once again shown me that his timing is perfect. That's why he's God and I'm not.

Baby Footlong

24 weeks! Woohoo! I really can't believe I'm over halfway done with my pregnancy. People have been noticing and commenting alot lately on my belly. I'm definately looking more pregnant than just fat. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday and hopefully I won't have gained as much as I did the last visit!

Baby Taylor is almost a foot long this week and weighs a little over 1.25 lbs. She's a tiny little thing, but she sure is active - I've been feeling her move alot these past few weeks and its really fun. Her brain is growing rapidly and her taste buds are developing. Also, the "branches" of her respiratory "tree" are developing along with the cells that produce surfactant, which helps the air sacs inflate easily.

P.S. We still haven't decided on a middle name but neither of us are too concerned about that right now. We have 2 that we like, but we'll take suggestions if you have any :)

The Name Game

As promised we will now reveal the name of our precious baby girl...well, the first name that is. We've decided on Taylor as that was my (Robyn) mom's maiden name. I've always loved the name and have said for years that I'd like to use it for one of my children. We're still undecided on the middle name but have a few contendors and will let you know when we know.

P.S. If you don't like the name choice, keep it to yourself! ;)

22 Weeks

I am now 22 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I can't believe I'm over halfway there! As mentioned in a previous post, Baby V is no longer compared to any type of produce, but according to babycenter.com she now looks like a miniature newborn! She is approximately 10.9 inches long and weighs almost 1 pound. Her skin is still wrinkled and will remain so until she gains enough weight to fill it out. As I type this she is moving all around - I think she knew I was talking about her weight so she's doing some aerobics or gymnastics or something. Lanugo, the fine hair that covers her head and body, is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, while the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath the gum line. Though the iris still lacks pigment, her eyes are fully developed and her eyelids and eyebrows are now in place. The pancreas, essential for hormone production, is steadily developing.

I hope you've enjoyed your science lesson for the day!

Baby What?

We've been asked a few times recently what type of fruit or vegetable Baby V is. Well, we don't know. The last several updates I've received have only said her approximate weight and length. My guess is that once they reach a certain size, its difficult to compare them to a fruit/vegetable. So I guess we'll just have to call her by her name! Stay tuned for the reveal of Baby V's name!
