Come and see us

Robyn and I have both said that we'd love for our friends and family to come see us in the hospital after Taylor is born, so feel free to come on by. Just give us a call so we can tell you a good time to come meet our little girl.

We're havin' a baby...

...tomorrow!

Things are a little crazy around here right now, so I don't have time to give all the details, but here's the basic info: Robyn had an ultrasound done at her appointment yesterday and based on that, they could tell that Taylor weighs about 6 pounds, 4 ounces. That is a healthy size, but she had only gained 4 ounces in the last 2 weeks, and she should have gained about 1 pound. They also took all of her measurements and her overall size is in the 17th percentile. Again, that's ok, but 2 weeks ago she was in the 38th percentile. So she has grown a little but her growth has tailed off. After her appointment her doctor told her to go to the hosptial to take a non-stress test. Basically the point of this test was to make sure that the heartbeat was "reactive" (meaning that it went up when she moved), and it was completely normal. But still because her size is so small the doctor was concerned and said that she may grown better outside the womb than she would inside. The doctor didn't tell us that we have to induce Saturday, but she recommended it. Neither of us want to be induced, but she said that there's really not a point to keep her in the womb at this point. Soooo, we are heading to the hospital at 6:00 tonight and they will start to induce tomorrow morning.

Honestly, at first neither of us were excited about this but we have prayed and talked about it a lot last night and this morning and we feel very comfortable that this is what the Lord has planned for us. We are going to go out to one last dinner together in a few hours and then we'll head to the hospital. Please continue to pray for us that Taylor will be born healthy and that we won't have to have a c-section. Thank you for all of your prayers so far and for those to come!

Details

Many of you have asked what the story is with the bird in the fireplace. I think the #1 question has been, "What did you do with it?" or "Did you get it out?". We, well Nick, did get it out by throwing a towel on it and scooping it up, and then it flew away when he threw it in the air. We wish we had taken a video of the adventure or at least a picture, but our main concern at the time was just to get the bird out of our house. I had this vision of some crazed bird flying around our house pooping on everything and flying at my face. Thankfully that did not happen.

New 'Do

Well, I finally cut my hair. Not just a trim...10 inches!!! I'm donating it to Locks of Love - something I've been wanting to do for years now, and I thought this was the perfect time. I now have "mom hair" as I have been told. I feel like a whole new person and it is sooo much easier and quicker. I like it alot. For some reason the pictures of the ponytail being cut off didn't get saved on the camera because the battery was dying, so use your imagination. The highlights and layers don't show up too well in the "after" pics, but they're there. Thanks Andy, for a fun new haircut and highlights!

Full term

Everything went well again with Robyn's appointment today. She is still 80% effaced and is now 1 cm dilated. We were hoping that she's be at least 2 or 3 cm's dilated, but we're just glad that she is dilated at all. She goes back next week and they'll do another ultrasound just to make sure that everything still looks good.

About the title of this post: Robyn is now 37 weeks pregnant, and 37 weeks is considered full term. It's another little milestone that lets us know that we're getting closer and closer to meeting Taylor.

36 Weeks and Counting...

Here is my 36 week belly! I feel like I grow bigger by the day, but I guess that's to be expected. We're getting anxious to meet baby Taylor and hope she doesn't get too big before her arrival. I'm down to weekly Dr. visits, which makes it seem like its going even faster! I'll post an update on Tuesday after my appt. and hopefully I will have made some good progress!

Whose Feet Are These?

So I'm experiencing a "little bit" of swelling in my feet and ankles. It's disgusting looking! Nick frequently says, "I do not know these feet. I could not pick them out in a line up." I'm told they'll go back to normal, but I don't remember what "normal" is. The one good thing is that I get lots of foot rubs. Thank you, Grandma, for teaching Nick how to give awesome foot rubs!

Great news!

Everything went very well at the appointment this morning. All of Taylor's measurements were right on track and the amniotic fluid level increased. She actually weighs 6 pounds! Her overall size is in the 38th percentile. So she's smaller than average, but she's nowhere near being dangerously small.

Thank you all very much for your thoughts, prayers, and encouraging words! We had gotten a little excited about the possibility of getting to meet Taylor Elyse next week, but we're even more excited that everything is fine.

Just a Reminder

We just wanted to remind everyone that I go back to the Dr. tomorrow for an ultrasound to see if Taylor is growing and how my amniotic fluid level is. Thanks for all of your prayers so far and we ask that you would continue to keep praying! We're not terribly worried or anything, but we are anxious to see what the verdict is. Nick's prayer is that we will be excited no matter what - whether I have to be induced or whether everything is fine. It's crazy to think that we could have a baby next week!

Growing girl?

It seems Taylor gets hiccups alot lately. I think the whole induction talk (or inducement as Nick likes to say) has gotten her attention and caused her to want to grow some more! I'm just kidding - I know that hiccups are just spasms of the diaphragm, not an indication of growth. But seriously though, she does have hiccups alot lately.

Unbelievable

It's July 6th, 2007...you know what that means? My due date is exactly ONE MONTH AWAY!!! Wow! It seems like not long ago that we were telling people that we're expecting. And it seems like just last month or so that we found out it's a girl. So now we await the arrival of our sweet Taylor and can't wait to meet her!

It's finally coming together

Today we made the most of our day off and made a lot of progress in the nursery. We put the bed together and arranged the furniture. We still need to get a glider and change the curtains, and then the nursery will be all finished. And we need a baby to put in the nursery.

How to turn an office into a nursery

A couple of weekends ago while Robyn was in Montgomery a friend and I emptied out the office and painted the walls. It was a long overdue first step to turn the office into the nursery.

The slideshow is the "before" pictures of the office and a few super-exciting pictures of us painting.

Bittersweet

Last Friday I had my 34 week appt. and it was bittersweet. The bitter part is that I am still measuring small with the tape measurer, so my Dr. scheduled another ultrasound for my next appt (July 10th). You may remember from a few posts ago the same thing happened and I actually had an ultrasound the same day, which indicated the baby's growth was normal. So hopefully that will be the case again on the 10th. There are several factors the Dr. will take into consideration depending on what the ultrasound shows, but if she's small, not showing appropriate growth since my last ultrasound, and my amniotic fluid level is low then she will probably want to induce at 37 weeks. The sweet part is that we could possibly meet Baby Taylor sooner than we had originally expected. We will keep y'all posted (no pun intended) and would greatly appreciate your prayers!
